Chiropractic Care after an Automobile Accident

No one plans for a car accident to take place, but the unfortunate reality is that automobile accidents occur. In 2006, there were over 130,000 injuries related to motor vehicle crashes in the state of Georgia.  While some accidents may only include minor fender benders, there may be more serious issues that are not first recognizable.Automobile Accidents-Neck Injury

Damage to a vehicle itself is one thing. Whether or not a car can be fixed, it can always be replaced. However, damage to a person is quite different. Often, the unexpected impact that takes place due to a vehicle collision can cause pain in the form of whiplash. The American Chiropractic Association states that whiplash is most commonly seen in people involved in motor vehicle accidents. The term whiplash refers to the sudden jolt or movement of the neck when involved in a car crash, or other type of accident.

Pain or discomfort in the neck may not be immediately evident. The ACA reports that individuals may not notice any pain or soreness for 2-48 hours after an injury occurs. If one does experience or observe signs of whiplash it is important to follow the recommendations of medical professionals. The ACA suggests that chiropractic care can provide relief in many cases of neck pain.
